COGNITIVE HYPNOTHERAPY

Nothing Has To Be the Way It's Always Been

Cognitive Hypnotherapy utilises a number of different tools and techniques that all work to align your unconscious mind patterns and your conscious desires, freeing you from old patterns of beliefs and behaviours that hold you back.  An evidence-based therapy, Quest Cognitive Hypnotherapy incorporates hypnosis, NLP, EMI, Wordweaving and a number of other powerful techniques as a bespoke therapy to create rapid transformation and personal change. I combine Cognitive Hypnotherapy with somatic and energetic approaches to deliver a truly transformational way of working with my clients. It's a very exciting thing to see such incredible change. You can read testimonials from my clients throughout this site and please do ask if you would like to know more from others who have experienced it. Many of my clients are more than happy to talk about he work we've done and share their transformational journeys to help others.

What is Quest Cognitive Hypnotherapy or QCH?

Cognitive Hypnotherapy is used to positively influence cognitive, emotional and behavioural change. This can be experienced as letting go of tightly held patterns of beliefs and behaviours, or in enhancing positive states and optimizing potential of us as individuals.

This branch of hypnotherapy is different from traditional schools of hypnotherapy and hypnotherapeutic thought. Cognitive Hypnotherapy  draws influence from a range of theories and harnesses the best aspects of these to achieve a client’s goals.

The theories involved include: Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP), Positive Psychology, Neuroscience and Evolutionary Psychology and Quest Cognitive Hypnotherapy (QCH) is based on three key principles:

1. Everyone is an individual and unique and their experience of life is individual and unique. There is no one size fits all approach in Cognitive Hypnotherapy. This form of therapy understands that every person’s problem pattern is unique to them and requires a personalised treatment plan. This style of therapy focuses on guiding the client out of any problematic states (stress, anxiety, limiting beliefs and behaviours) to live a happier life, free from many of the issues that hold people back.

2. Cognitive Hypnotherapy works with the idea that trance is a naturally occurring state and something that we do every day, without realising. Traditional hypnotherapy focuses on the hypnotherapist guiding you into a trance-like state - something special rather that a naturally occurring state of mind. For example, when time slips by whilst you're reading or you don't notice how you go to your destination whilst driving your car.

3. The third principle of Cognitive Hypnotherapy is that all behaviour has a positive intention. Our unconscious mind exists to keep us safe and ultimately alive, but we we can mis-label on an unconscious level creating patterns of behaviour that we find problematic. While any behaviour when in a trance has the intention to fulfil a positive purpose, not all behavioural choices will be what we would like them to be. Cognitive hypnotherapy works to update and align the unconscious and conscious to allow us to achieve what we set out to and become free of what holds us back.

How Can Cognitive Hypnotherapy Help You?

Cognitive hypnotherapy is a flexible approach, designed in such a way that the therapist and client work together to achieve the desired goals. Cognitive Hypnotherapy empowers the client to take charge of their experience, allow more of a flow with themselves and with life, releasing any unwanted patterns, and create so much more of the life they want to be living.

Guided by a skilled therapist, Cognitive Hypnotherapy provides the client with the knowledge and skills needed to transform their experience. Cognitive Hypnotherapy works to ‘de-hypnotise’ the client to change thoughts and behaviours and provide a sense freedom. This de-hypnotising allows a clear and different relationship to things that might once have been triggers - public speaking, difficult, stressful or anxious thought patterns, or a behavioural habit that has been getting in the way of personal freedom.

What to expect in a session
We start with a free 15-30 minute telephone conversation where I can answer any question you may have before booking with me.  It's a chance for you to tell me more of what you're experiencing and how you'd like things to be after your Cognitive Hypnotherapy sessions. Together we'll discuss what's happening for you, how you experience this and how it affects you and your life. Following that I can suggest a treatment plan designed specifically for you. For some people 3-5 sessions gets them to where they want to be, and for others a more intensive 3 month package is required.

I like to suggest things to read, watch and small tasks to do at home to accelerate the changes. I may give you an MP3 to listen to, I may teach you meditation or self-hypnosis techniques to use at home, and occasionally will suggest other practitioners that you might want to see alongside our work as occasionally breath or body-work, yoga or a nutritional consultant would be beneficial to you also. I don't have any set practitioners who I work with for this and of course this is entirely up to you, but I find that a holistic approach is beneficial to many people.

Many of my clients want to integrate coaching, mentoring or spiritual guidance into their work with me. This usually involves a different structure of sessions and a longer time-frame, starting from a package of work lasting between 3-6 months. If this is something that you may be interested in please let me know when you get in touch and we can discuss the possibilities

Cognitive Hypnotherapy London and Online with Kirsty Macdonald

'Being completely new to hypnotherapy, I wasn't sure exactly what to expect and was at first a little apprehensive. I was put at ease straight away and the sessions helped me make sense of difficult life experiences allowing me to recall memories without a strong emotional connection. I hadn't realised how entwined all these past experiences had been on my wellbeing and talking them through with Kirsty helped me find an inner strength to move on with my life and not let my past dictate who I am now.'
